Addressing Water Scarcity With Tengyue Smart Water Meters

Around the world, water conservation is critical to preserve adequate water supplies today and in the future. About half of the world’s 8 billion people face severe water scarcity—with another 25% experiencing extremely high water stress and using over 80% of their renewable water supply each year.
Tengyue smart water meters have brought significant help to our customers. In in-depth communication with customers, we learned that Sardinia, Italy, is struggling to cope with the impact of climate change and faces a large amount of actual water loss, of which about 53% is attributed to water pipe leakage, almost twice the global average.
Abbanoa, a water service provider in Sardinia, Italy, expressed the urgency of reducing non-revenue water (NRW) because of the amount of water wasted every year due to leaks. To solve this problem, Abbanoa integrated 400,00 Tengyue mechanical water meters, 40,00 of which were equipped with communication modules.
In 2024, Abbanoa initiated the shift towards solid-state water meters that collect more detailed data, more frequently, to monitor the overall health of the water distribution network and deliver a billing service that is both more efficient and more precise for customers. Tengyue partnered with Abbanoa in this inaugural project for solid-state water meters by supplying its leading Smart water meters. Designed to withstand Sardinia‘s harsh weather conditions, tengyue smart water meters also detect household leaks more accurately.
The introduction of these smart ultrasonic meters has yielded several benefits for Abbanoa. Not only has there been a 5% increase in revenue, but operating costs have also decreased. Additionally, customer satisfaction has improved, and billing has become more accurate.
