EGEA -Fixed Network

Supporting the rapid expansion of Brazil's health network

Sering more than 15 miion people in 100 municipaities, BRk Ambiental is the largest private sanitation company in Brazi. As it set out to expand the supply of quaitwater and sewage services, the company faced numerous obstacles – incuding a shortage of reliable meters in Brazil.
Folowing a sucessful cal to tender, Diehl Metering now provides BRk Ambientalwith a range of ultrasonic and volumetic meters. Thanks to reduced lead times, thecompany can continue its rapid growth while reducing Non-Revenue water. in this wav, tis helping to bring aenuine changeto Brazil’s sanitalion nework.

100 MILLION BRAZILIANS WITHOUT SEWAGE COLLECTION

Among the challenges faced by BRK Ambiental is the lack of access to asewage system for half of all Brazilians.

The challenge:

RETHINK METERING TO GROW BRAZIL'S WATERSERVICES

Since changing ownership in 2017, AEGEA has been working to improve water services in Brazil where about 50% of residents lack access to sewage collection. The company’s ambitious growth strategy includes improving water services, wastewater services and industrial water access across the country. To achieve this, it faces two key challenges.First, it needed to replace its velocimetric meters with smart meters. This will ensure more accurate readings, allowing it to address significant issues with non-revenue water.

The solution:

SMART AND ULTRASONIC METERS TO TACKLE WATER LOSS

AEGEA launched a strategic sourcing project to map the water meter market in Brazil and abroad to select suppliers with the capabilities to meet its needs.Tengyue Metering’s first contact with the company was in Sao Paulo in September 2017, when the two parties signed an agreement to install some pilot solutions.Over a two-vear period, we tested a range of different water meters and our vehicle-mounted and fixed network systems at various locations in Brazil. The testing period produced convincing results. Thanks to its large measurement dynamic range, Tengyue Metering’s smart water meter has proven to be very efficient. The initial phase of the contract includes the supply of 370,000 DN15/20 composite smart water meters, as well as a large number of ultrasonic water meters.

In the near future, Tengyue Metering will also provide advanced metering infrastructure that leverages wireless technology to remotely and reliably collect data from the network for powerful data analytics. The goal is to implement telemetry solutions for strategic customers to reduce apparent water losses due to inaccurate readings, tampering and collection anomalies. We will also help AEGEA limit physical water losses.

The benefit:

DRIVING EXPANSION THROUGH WATER AND COST SAVINGS

Tengyue Metering will help AEGEA expand its sanitation network in Brazil by ensuring a fast and continuous supply of water meters in the coming years.

Non-revenue water reduced by 50%

In addition, new volumetric water meters ensure that the company can measure leaks more accurately-even at very low flows. This enabled it to significantly reduce non-revenue water and correct bills accordingly. The end result is a significant increase in revenue.
