A modern, cost-effective AMR solution for a growing metropolis

Manual meter reading in the most challenging conditions
As of 2015, more than 1.2 million water meters in Cebu are read manually.Besides the problem of locating individual water meters, other difficulties include increasing congestion and heavy rainfall and flooding during the monsoon season.Just 300 meter reads a day pushed manual meter reading to its limits.Cebu urgently needs a reliable automatic meter reading solution that can work effectively independently of the “human” factor – and prevent tampering and transcription errors when recording handwritten reports.
The solution:
Accurate data transmission and management
The Smart Tengyue Waterless Solution has been implemented in 17 cities in Metro Cebu to help achieve a cost-effective system and make data communications fast and reliable.The architecture is very simple: a mobile radio receiver collects the signal sent by the water meter at an 8-second transmission frequency. The data collected by the system is sent to the system via an FTP server on a 3G or 4G network where it is stored and managed.

Significant reduction in expenses and losses
Now that the solution has been successfully implemented, Cebu can access consumption data faster and easier, and ensure accurate data for the billing process.Various warning messages are issued after each reading cycle and any leaks or water saving potential can also be identified.Problems with the water network were visualized with pinpoint accuracy, allowing Cebu to significantly improve its customer service.The savings are also considerable: While it would have cost $1,230 to read 20,000 meters manually the cost has been reduced to $128 thanks to the new Tengyue Metering drive solution.High NRW losses (61%) were also reduced by more than half.
